About this event

This one-hour tour of two exhibitions at the National Museum of African Art will explore controversies regarding the restitution of museum objects that originate in other lands. The Benin Bronzes: Ambassadors of the Oba is a small exhibition of objects on loan from Nigeria, whereas Visionary is an expansive, semi-permanent show with contemporary and older artworks from many African countries. Several stories of art acquisition will unfold in Visionary.

The tour guide, Paula Hirschoff, has been a NMAA docent since 1990.

The tour is limited to 12 guests due to the small size of the Benin Bronzes’ gallery.
