BilfieldHoffmann, and Edwards will discuss the importance of equitable access to arts education, the benefits of collaborative partnerships, and the transformative power of arts education for DC students, followed by a rousing performance by the Stuart-Hobson Jazz Band, one of the music and arts projects WPAS has provided to 19 DC public elementary and middle schools.

For more than 50 years, Washington Performing Arts has created opportunities that connect community and artists, in both education and performance. Washington Performing Arts embraces a broad spectrum of the performing arts, including classical music, jazz, gospel, contemporary dance and music, international music and art forms, and new work.  Dynamic education programs in the public schools and beyond are hallmarks of Washington Performing Arts, as are the Capital Arts Partnership programs, Embassy Adoption Program, the Mars Urban Arts Initiative, and two resident gospel choirs.

You won’t want to miss this opportunity to meet a remarkable educator and cheer his students on in making music together!

This program is co-sponsored by CHIME (Community Help In Music Education) and Dupont Circle Village.
