2017 Fall meeting 2

Dupont Circle Village Legacy Heritage Fund

In September 2017, we took a giant step toward advancing our goal of ensuring the future of the Village. The LEGACY HERITAGE FUND, whose purpose is to guarantee lasting support for the Village, was launched at the 2017 General Meeting. Together we have built the DCV and together we are working to ensure the future.  We are a dynamic, evolving organization and, with your support for the Legacy Heritage Fund, we can sustain our vision into the future.

What Should I Think About If I Want to Make Pledge to the Legacy Heritage Fund?
Donors have many options to choose from. Considerations when deciding to make a pledge may include your marital status, financial situation, what you plan to give to family members, friends or other causes. You can also consult a tax advisor regarding the additional benefits of using a retirement plan to make a charitable gift. All IRA and retirement plans use their own beneficiary designation forms. Consultations with an estate lawyer are advised. If you do not have an attorney or advisor to consult, DCV can assist you to find a consultant.

Making a Pledge to the Legacy Heritage Fund

Including a bequest in your will or trust can be easy.  The Village can provide assistance with sample bequest language that provides the Village will receive a specified dollar amount or a percentage of a residuary estate. We also have brochures describing and providing additional information about the Legacy Heritage Fund which are available from the DCV Office and our Website.

Any option you choose to use will require you to name the Dupont Circle Village, Tax #26-2702387, as the recipient of the bequest.

Donors who make a pledge receive a Legacy Heritage Fund lapel pin in recognition of their support for the Village and will be listed in our newsletter and on our website. The size of each bequest will be confidential and individuals can be listed as anonymous if  preferred.

Ten DCV members who already have pledged a donation were recognized at the 2017 General Meeting and were awarded lapel pins as charter members of the Legacy Heritage Fund.  We hope to see more and more pins at future Village occasions.
